The "Packet"
The Recommendation Packet is required to be completed whenever a college or university requires a recommendation letter from the school. It includes a student input sheet, parent input sheet and teacher recommendation. Detailed instructions are included in the packet. PLEASE NOTE: Packets need to be turned in to the counselor TWO WEEKS before the university deadline. Quality letters cannot be produced by counselors unless this pre-deadline is met. The forms have interactive fields so that it can be completed online and then printed or it can be printed and completed by hand.

Regaining cRedits
If you failed a course, or want to get ahead in some electives, there are some ways to get credits outside of OHS. Talk to your counselor for more information about these and other programs:
Credit REtrieval
A FREE program available here on campus for students who qualify.
Credit retrieval can be taken in the summer, after school, or in some cases as a class period during the school day. Courses are mostly based online with some work turned in to the credit retrieval teachers. Students work at their own pace independently so this option requires self discipline to complete in a timely manner. If you are interested, speak with the counselor for an application.

Texas Tech ISD
Texas Tech K-12 is another program OHS students have used in the past. These classes are approximately $250 per semester credit but students have the luxury of working on the program from home. Students have 6 months to complete the coursework and then must schedule to take a final exam with their counselor. Counselors are not on campus during the summer so students must be careful to not let the exam/course expire when requesting the final exam.
*Permission from the student's counselor must be gained before signing up for the course! https://www.depts.ttu.edu/k12/courses/

Summer Advancement
Traditional Summer Advancement is provided by the district. It is not located at O'Connor. Registration will be available in the counseling office April-May. Pre-Registration is available at the home campus. Cost was approximately $150 per semester course taken in the prior season.
